Botulinum toxin – Botox

Botulinum toxin is considered the most effective non-surgical method for treating mimic wrinkles.

For decades the human body has known its effect in dealing with various neurological, ophthalmic and urological complaints.

Administered in different parts of the face and neck, botulinum toxin decreases and even eliminates the visible lines and wrinkles due to its relaxing effect on the underlying muscles, improving the aesthetic appearance of the face and eliminating the signs of fatigue and Aging skin.

Botulinum toxin is a synthesis protein of the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. The protein contained in it has high toxicity and in miniature doses it blocks the transmission of the nerve impulse from the neuron to the muscular fiber. Which leads to muscle relaxation – the muscle is not shortened and prevents the skin from wrinkled.

  • Inflammation of the skin where the doctor plans to inject
  • If muscle weakness or loss of muscle mass is observed where the doctor intends to inject
  • In the presence of surgeries that may have altered the muscle to be injected
  • In glaucoma
  • Influenza conditions and antibiotic intake
  • If you are taking muscle relaxants or antidepressants, tell the doctor, because they can intensify the action of botulinum toxin!
  • Pregnancy and lactation
  • Botulinum toxin is injected only by physicians who have undergone specialist training and certification. It is placed with an extremely thin needle, therefore local anesthesia is not necessary. The first changes are noted 72 hours after manipulation. The full effect of the procedure was observed on average on 14-15 day after the injection, and its duration was 4-6 months. Re-injection is recommended after 6 months, thus the durability of the effect is prolonged to 8-12 months.

Botulinum toxin is used to shape the face, for example, with a noticeable asymmetry of the eyebrows and for the immobilization of the muscles, which with their unnatural contractions create an unaesthetic appearance.

  • In Dynamic wrinkles
  • Horizontal wrinkles on forehead
  • Angry wrinkle between eyebrows
  • Wrinkles around the eyes – chanterelles
  • Nose wrinkles, rabbit type
  • Wrinkles above the upper lip
  • Wrinkles in the corner of the mouth – marionette wrinkles
  • Wrinkles on the neck
  • Wrinkles on the neckline
  • The preparation is successfully applied for the treatment of hyperhidrosis – increased sweating of armpits, palms and feet.

Before the procedure, the face is spread out into zones. Note the problematic places and with a marker fix the points in which botulinum toxin should be injected. The face is shot in a calm form and in the form of expression of emotion and only then we proceed to action. The procedure is entered and stored in the patient’s personal cardboard.

It is obligatory to work on the established rules from the clinical experience, which are the subject of certified courses and trainings.

  • A headache that passes in a few days.
  • After the action of botulinum toxin is manifested, heaviness can be felt in the forehead area. It can last about 20 days.
  • When attaching Botox to the surrounding eye area, swelling under the eyes may appear due to a disturbed ejection of lymph. The condition lasts from a few days to a month.

Post-procedure care and duration of effect

  • You should not massage and press the injected areas.
  • It is recommended that in the first 2-3 hours to strengthen the mimic by shrinking and displacing the expression muscles – it helps to even and complete distribution of botulinum toxin in the injected muscle.
  • The first 4 hours should not be laid or the head bent, as it is possible that the botulinum toxin can pass into another group of muscles due to its diffusion property.
  • Don’t play sports in the first 24 hours.
  • Do not use cosmetic products with alcohol content, creams, gels, masks, as well as not to make cosmetic procedures, peelings and facial massage in the first 72 hours.

Duration of effect

The action of botulinum toxin occurs from 4 to 10 days after the procedure. The maximum effect is usually observed after 1 to 2 weeks.

Depending on the type of musculature, the effect lasts from 4 to 6 months. In some patients, it is also possible to 8 months after the first procedure. Everyone has a different muscle tone, that is, a different strength of muscle contraction, so the dose is determined individually according to the muscle indicators.
